The company was founded in 2003 by the next generation of marine surveyors and consultants of the marine insurance industry.
Simon Groves is based in our London office. He has a lot of experience over many years working within the London marine insurance industry, firstly as a technical consultant for Richards Hogg average adjusters and then developing a technical services division within Charles Taylor – managers of the Standard P&I Club. With Inserve, he specializes in risk based surveys. Simon studied engineering and ship design to become a Chartered Engineer and went on to develop a particular interest in the field of marine machinery reliability. He has led a number of high profile loss prevention projects which have resulted in significant reductions in breakdowns, casualties and claims.

Richard Postles brings a wealth of experience from his sea going career with blue chip shipping companies such as Shell, P&O and China Navigation where he sailed as chief engineer. Richard spent three years as chief engineer with the Mercyships organisation, a thoroughly rewarding and satisfying period of his life. Richard is based in our London office and he brings valuable experience to the team, in the form of up to date ship management practices, ship operations, planned maintenance systems and rules and regulations.

David Jones is a master mariner and is based in Greece. David is responsible for surveys in Greece, eastern Mediterranean and the Middle East countries. David is a valuable member of the team. He spent many years in command of various ship types and has acquired a lot of very useful experience. In addition to insurance related surveys, David also surveys sailing yachts for insurance and prep purchase purposes.
Mauricio Fernandez studies at the Chilean Naval Academy and went on to work for Humboldt Shipmanagement from 1998 to 2015. Most recently he worked as a superintendent on a project in Brazil. Prior to that worked as assistant superintendent and technical assistant and also spent many years at sea as an engineer. His sea going experience includes gas carriers, tankers, chemical tankers and bulk / dry cargo ships.

Edmund Concepcion is a well experienced master mariner. He sailed on a variety of ship types, such as oil tankers, OBO, car carriers and cement carriers. He also has five years experience as a master mariner with one of the leading shipping companies in Greece and Japan. When he retired sailing in 2011, he worked in one of the prestigious manning agencies in Manila as a training coordinator for almost two years. Edmund is now based in the Philippines and he is the responsible to carry out surveys there as well as in other Asian countries.
John Macdonald is a professional Marine Engineer. Having started his career as a shipyard apprentice then merchant navy cadet he then went on to spend 20 years at sea, working mainly for BP, rising to the rank of Chief Engineer. During this time he was involved with BPs entry into the LNG shipping market achieving the rank of Cryogenic Engineer in 1994. He continued to work within the LNG sector at sea until 2006 when he decided to come ashore and work within the LNG tanker new-build sector. For the next 5 years he worked for TK leading the machinery and cryogenic side of repair and new build LNG vessels before moving into project management and design.
From 2014 he has been working for himself providing consultation and engineering services.
